Super Susan
Judah on his sweet blanket!
My dear friend Susan is wonderfully talented and creative and has gifted each one of my kids a special, hand-made blanket. She started almost seven years ago (Naomi was one of her first blankets) and has continued to grow and experiment and refine her skills as friends have more kiddos. With my large brood, I've obviously given her lots of opportunity to practice.
She delivered Jude's blanket over the weekend and I absolutely love it! Susan, you are incredible and I am blessed to call you my friend. Thank you! Big Changes
Naomi riding her new bicycle sans extra wheels.
We've had some major changes in our house over the past week: Naomi is riding her bike without training wheels. Mirabel is sleeping in her big girl bed, has given the crib to Jude on her own initiative and is pooping on the potty. Judah is taking a bottle beautifully. And, we sold our loyal 1999 Civic.
That Civic was the first car I bought on my own, has been dependable for the past 12 years and is the very car we brought home 3 of our 4 kids from the hospital. It's now going to great new owners, and we get to use the cash to pay for a new, unexpected roof. Hooray!

One Month
Judah is one month old!
The past month has simply flown by...maybe because it's been filled with adventure or maybe because we have four kids and lots to attend to and little opportunity to evaluate time passing. Who knows. That said, it's been the easiest first month of life we've experienced! Judah is so laid back, relaxed, always happy and easy to please. He's an amazing and wonderful addition to our family. We love you so much, Jude!
P.S. He currently weighs in at 9 lbs 8 oz, has begun smiling and enjoys motorcycles like his dad!

It's Time!
Mirabel finally going on the potty!
I have to admit that this is the first time I've had to put forth great effort to get a child to go on the potty. Naomi and Selah both took the initiative and did it themselves. Easy!
Mira is an entirely different child. She's been talking about the potty and big girl pants with great excitement for months, but when it comes to the actual execution, she's absolutely NOT interested.
Today is different. One, because I have a newborn baby at home and we're not going anywhere. Two, because she WANTS to do it. We have the potty sitting in the family room in front of our TV with anything she wants on the screen. I'm pumping the fluids (see the juice box above) and she's rewarded with stickers and suckers, cookies or jelly beans. I know that's a bit extreme but it's working. She's gone at least a dozen times already and it's only 9:30 AM. Yahoo!
