Five!

Happy Birthday, Naomi

Five years ago today was one of the most monumental days of my life. I remember it like it was yesterday: calling Dr. Grim at 5am to announce labor, leisurely stopping for starbucks on the way to the hospital, seeing Josh & Jen (also in labor) once we arrived, having an amazing team of nurses and doctors, watching the sunset against the Cincinnati skyline and first laying eyes on your beautiful face. These are details I will never forget.

Nomi, we love you more than words can express and are so incredibly proud of you! Happy birthday, sweetheart.

Kindergarten

Naomi's first day of Kindergarten

Naomi has been talking about Kindergarten for months. We've read books, memorized phone numbers, ordered the backpack (in June), talked about school lunch and teachers and new friends. She's been more than ready!

Our plan was to drive her to school in the morning and let her ride the kindergarten-only bus on the way home. Until this morning. Nomi stepped outside, as we were all loading into the van, saw all of the neighborhood kids waiting for the bus, and decided that she wanted to as well. We said OK. Minutes later, this happened. Wow!

I wasn't ready for such boldness and decisiveness but am so proud of her. Nomi loved everything about her first day and she can't wait to return on Monday!

Best of Cincinnati 2009

I write romantic sci-fi.

Some friends and I had a blast making a short film over the course of a weekend a couple of months ago for The 48 Hour Film Project. We were honored to be screened among the "best of" films in Cincinnati last night, and it turns out we did pretty well. We won awards for Audience Choice, Best Art Direction, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography, Best Director, and the top prize, Best of Cincinnati 2009. A great surprise. Now, on to Nationals.

Family Vacation 2009
