Free Piano

We picked this up from a kind woman who didn't play it much anymore, and just wanted to be generous. I was just on the right web page at the right time, I guess. It's nothing fancy, but it'll be great for the kids and me to bang around on as we learn. We're excited. Now all we need is a good tuning.

Miss Liz's Music Class

For the last several weeks, I've been taking the girls to a music class at one of our local libraries. It has been well worth the 30 minute drive across town each week not only because the class is free and we get to see their friends Brooke and Jillian, but because both girls get to do it together and LOVE it. Not to mention, it has been something to look forward to and has given me motivation to get out of the house during these cold winter days! Miss Liz is amazingly captivating and holds the attention of 25 little ones (3 and under) for a good 35 minutes or more. Unbelievable. The girls had a surprise guest for their last class on Thursday - Papa Thomas joined in on the fun.
P.S. For you Cincinnati moms, there will be another free class in June and July. We can't wait! If you don't live in Cincy, there are programs all over the country - check out your local libraries or www.musikgarten.org

Snowy Day

The girls couldn't wait to get outside this morning. We only lasted fifteen minutes - too cold! Naomi ate lots of the white snow (she's been warned of the yellow) and made snow angels. Selah didn't want to keep her gloves on and therefore had frozen fingers. At least the attempt made them happy.

Valentine Party

The girls had a little Valentine party with some of their friends today (a day late since it was snowed out on Tuesday). Everyone had a great time...even Oscar the cat.

Arts Sampler Weekend

This past weekend was the 22nd Annual Fine Arts Fund Arts Sampler Weekend in Greater Cincinnati, which apparently is one of the nation’s largest FREE arts festivals. We took the girls downtown to the Contemporary Arts Center and spent most of our time in the UNMUSEUM, an entire floor designated to children exploring their creativity. Click here for more pictures of our experience. The highlight of the evening for Selah however, had nothing to do with the arts - she fed a police horse a peppermint and hasn't stopped talking about it since.

Rainbow Weather

Our weather lately has been crazy. Nearly seventy degrees with severe thunderstorms a few days ago and teens predicted for this weekend. I don't know whether to rack my brain for more indoor activities or celebrate spring on the way. Ugh! The girls did get to see their first rainbow, though and they thought that was pretty cool. Too bad the picture is polluted with power lines.
