Glenwood Garden

We got an offer to join our friends at Highfield Discovery Garden today which is an amazing place for kids within Glenwood Garden, another one of Cincinnati's awesome parks. The kids had a blast and so did the moms. Nomi climbed in the giant tree, listen to a presentation about why trees are terrific, had a tea party in a wacky house, went hiking and played with the trains. I felt like I was in the neighborhood of make-believe... remember Mr. Rogers?

Why?

And so it begins... Naomi has now started to ask "why." First she asked me why she couldn't ride the school bus and then she asked why she needed to tell the truth. Serious questions. I'm excited and terrified at the same time - mostly excited. It's cool to see her really interested and wanting to understand everything happening around her!

Random

The girls actually sat together and played long enough for me to take their picture this morning. Selah sat up by herself for it too. They are both growing so quickly. We think Selah is almost ready to crawl. She holds herself up on all fours and rocks back and forth. Fun! Naomi is becoming an independent little girl. She wants to do everything by herself including taking care of Selah. In the past few days I've found Nomi feeding Selah her food (see picture below) and taking off Selah's clothes and diaper because she "needs" a change. She's so helpful! We've also had some interesting adventures in the past few weeks around Cincinnati and in our backyard.

Good Times

With the girls being sick this week we opted out of our normal playdates, to not share the funk with our friends, and have spent our time just being together. I've asked Naomi what she'd like to do when she wakes up in the morning and then have let her dictate the days (for the most part). I was hoping she'd want to go to the zoo, the library and other fun places but all she's really wanted to do is go to the park. SO - the past few days we've loaded up our stroller and jogged to a few different parks in the neighborhood. It's been great! Nomi LOVES the swings and has been extremely excited to push Selah too. Both girls love it and I get to stand by (closely) and watch. On our way home we've stopped at our favorite coffee shop for a treat (aka a chocolate chip cookie).

Sellman Park in Madeira happens to be right off of Naomi and Miami Avenues.

Stephan Field Park in Indian Hill

We also made crayon cookies this week thanks to the inspiration of one of our friends and Kiddley.com. It's super easy, a great way to use your broken crayon pieces and it captivates and entertains a young audience.

Today Naomi woke up relentlessly asking for ice cream. After not having much of an appetite all week, I thought why not. I made oatmeal and topped it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Nomi was super excited and gobbled it up. Moral of this story is ice cream makes everything better!

2nd BD Photos

Here.

Both of our girls are sick. Not a good birthday present. Thankfully, Naomi still really enjoyed her party with friends yesterday. Nobody was too worried about the funk - these kids trade rhinoviruses like baseball cards (as you'll see from some of the snotty noses). Good times!
