A Helping Hand

Naomi is a big help these days. She enjoys working in the kitchen with me while I make dinner, she loves to take care of her animals by giving them food and drink and she has been especially excited about wrapping Christmas presents. Today she helped make peanut butter blossom cookies in celebration of finishing our Christmas shopping. Oh yeah!

Other times, as you can see, she is just a big ham. Naomi "cheeses" for the camera and has also acquired a new skill. Maybe teamchandler fans out there can help us determine what to call it...

Super Friends

A few photos from a great weekend with Adam in town. We missed Mike, but he's off doing some great work in Afghanistan.

Beyond Her Years

Naomi's new favorite thing is talking on the telephone. She walks around the house with the phone, sits on chairs with the phone, even sprawls out on the floor with her feet up, phone to her ear, talking away. I wasn't prepared for this quite so soon. What are we going to do when she's a teenager? The ironic part about it is that when there is actually someone on the line to talk to her she runs the other way. Hmmmm.

Snow Day

Naomi went out to play in the snow for the first time today. She was intrigued. Those darn snow pants, boots and puffy coat were the problem. It was nearly impossible for her to move or to get up once she was down. However, once she was down she discovered that snow tastes pretty good.

In other news, Nomi and I got out a few Christmas decorations last week and her favorite by far is the fiber optic snowman shown below. We could sit and watch it for hours - it's mesmerizing! I've also included a few Naomi close ups to show her bruise progression. The enormous goose egg is almost gone but she still has some pretty colors remaining that are slowly fading away. That's at least reassuring.

For Sale

I think the Cincinnati-area readership of this blog is fairly low, but what the heck. If you or anyone you know is interested in moving within or to Cincinnati, check out our friends' super-cool house for sale.

Wham!

And, no, I'm not talking about the '80s pop duo. Naomi has become really accident-prone all of the sudden. I guess it's her age and her increasingly adventurous spirit. There's nothing glamorous about whacking your head on a chair, though, which is what she did with great force this afternoon. The poor kid doesn't even look like herself. Thankfully we have several doctor friends who assured us that since there was no loss of consciousness or vomiting she's fine and that these goose eggs happen all the time to kids her age. Still no fun.

Pastimes

Naomi loves her teddy! She would take him everywhere if we'd let her. These days she also enjoys coloring, climbing on furniture and toys, talking to her reflection in the oven and dishwasher, putting on mom and dad's shoes, testing her limits and especially likes to point out bellybuttons!
