Naomi's Chair
Naomi's Great-Grandpa Rogers restored this old sunday school chair for her that he found in the church attic. He said Matt may have used it at one time or another. It is her new prized possession! She loves to climb on it and sit like a big girl. What a cutie!

To Sleep or Not to Sleep
Naomi is a happy, energetic, loving child. She has her defiant moments, like any kid does, but overall she's pretty great! We had lunch with Matt and some close friends today at one of our favorite Thai restaurants. It's always a nice treat for her and for me to see Dad during the day. Since we got home, almost three hours ago, she's been playing in her crib actively fighting a nap. I know she's tired and desperately needs even a small snooze but she doesn't want it. We're at this stage between one and two naps a day...even sometimes no nap. Maybe not noteworthy but I thought I'd document. I guess I can handle a few trying no nap days as long as bedtime remains a pleasant experience and allows for a little time to recharge. No nap wins today.
And for the devoted fans who need a fix - here are a few pictures of Naomi's bedtime ritual... reading books.

Surprise Visit
We were supposed to make an appearance at a family reunion this afternoon. We were told the meeting place was near Colerain, but it ended up being somewhere near Millville. After nearly driving into Indiana to find the house (unsuccessfully), we decided to take a detour to our old stomping grounds in Oxford instead. This was serendipitous, as we enjoyed Bagel & Deli and Skipper's criss-cut fries while watching both the Bengals and Browns games on plasma TVs in good ol' uptown. It'd been a year since we were up there, even though we're only an hour away. Those college kids keep getting younger.
Here's one of many MU signs, an uptown bookstore, my house from senior year and Cal's house, formerly called "Stop Inn" (many Oxford houses are named).

Blinding Lights
Just got back from Chicago, where I saw one of the best concerts I've seen. The setlist was fantastic, and the lighting and production value of the show were unbelievable. You can read an article about the technology behind this tour here. My friends Ben and Josh were randomly selected from the general admission tickets to watch the show from inside the ellipse, so they were like 20 feet from Bono the whole night.
Arcade Fire and Kanye are opening later dates, which would've been cooler than Dashboard Confessional, but they were okay. It was an awesome show. So worth the drive.

Weekend Recap
We went to Ashland this past weekend for a much needed visit with the family. It happened to be Homecoming for the Ashland Arrows so we made an appearance at the Ashland High School football game Friday night. We watched Uncle Jeff march and cousin Jody cheer. Naomi loved all of the action!
We also visited a small pumpkin patch set with beautiful chrysanthemums that made a perfect spot for pictures.
Finally, my personal favorite, Matt and Jeff and their dueling Macs.

A Day at the Park
Naomi and I went to Eden Park today to meet up with her friends Irene and Ezra.
Feeding the ducks was a bit overwhelming for Nomi but Irene was quick to provide other entertainment. They played together on the jungle gym, practiced their luge, were mesmerized by the waterfall and overall, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Ez sat nearby watching longingly. Soon he will be able to join in on all of the fun.

Cirque du Soleil
We saw a pretty amazing show last night on its last night in Columbus. You can view a sample of the show here (the clip doesn't do the live show justice). It was difficult to follow the narrative, but the performers and production as a whole were incredible. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend seeing a Cirque show.

Family Reunion
Last weekend Naomi and I went to Toledo for a few days to visit Great-Grandma Mo. She also met her great Uncle Tom and Aunt Peg, cousins Chris, Andy & Donna who were all in from Houston, Texas. It was a busy weekend with lots of great food, family fun and pictures to prove it.
Naomi playing with timeless blocks (from 1976), having fun with Great Uncle Tom, and pictures of four generations.
