I've Got a Fever...

...and the only cure is getting outside on days like today (but a little cowbell wouldn't hurt, either). Today I up and left work, unannounced, at 3:30. Untucked the shirt, cued up Bob Marley on the iPod and drove home with the windows down. We took a long walk in the sunshine after I got home. It's amazing what a day like today can do for my demeanor after a long, gray, rainy winter. I can feel the vitamin D coursing through my veins.

It's back to my cubicle walls tomorrow, and I'll need to make up for the work I blew off this afternoon, but it was worth it.

Sitting and standing up add new dimensions to play time.

Perspective

This is what the world looks like from a 6-month-old's perspective. There have been a lot of developments in the past week. Naomi has two teeth starting to come in and she's able to sit up on her own now. She's more talkative than ever, too, and will be crawling any day.

Culinary Adventures

Naomi just got her high chair, which she really enjoys, and she's getting marginally better at keeping food in her mouth and swallowing it.

In other culinary news, I discovered a great, cheap Thai place for lunch on Friday, and we enjoyed dinner with friends at a Turkish restaurant Friday night. My Mom, Dad and Jeff were in town on Saturday and watched Naomi for us that evening so we could have dinner with other friends. Two childless dinners out in a row is definitely newsworthy. The most newsworthy event of the weekend, though, is that our good friends Betsy and Brett (aka Bretsy) got engaged after dinner (with us) on Saturday. Congratulations, guys!

To Do List

Today I've got to take a bath, help with the laundry, play with Eve, do a little work on the computer and play with Dad before bed. Tomorrow's schedule looks just as hectic. I remember a simpler time, like when I was four months old...

6 Month Statistics

Naomi had her 6 month checkup (and shots) at the doctor's yesterday. Here are the stats:

* 13 pounds, 14 ounces (15th percentile)
* 26" long (55th percentile)

The doc says he expects her to be an average height and slender as a child and an adult (I guess those tendencies are apparent by this point). From our descriptions of her eating habits, he says she'll probably be a picky eater, too, so he told us not to stress about her being finicky.

Everywhere we go people tell us how beautiful Naomi is. Maybe they're just being nice, but we think it's true. I think she's in the 100th percentile for cuteness.

6 Months

Over the sickness, thankfully, and cuter than ever. Some recent milestones are the ability to roll over (both ways, unassisted), reaching for whatever Mom and Dad have (especially beverages), eating cereal and some fruit (sometimes), and wriggling across the floor, gradually (not crawling quite yet, though).
